Top new wings from 2025 Rankings Update - Prep Hoops (2024)

A wing forward who can do a variety of things on the court, I really like Shaker’s versatility. Able to move his feet defensively, switch onto guards but still provide rebounding value at 6’5, Shaker does a lot. Offensively he’s able to space the floor, attack a closeout and get second chance points at the rim. Brunswick plays a high tempo offense that has a ton of shooting, making their players usually ready for the college level at the offensive end. I think Shaker should be a priority for small college programs due to how many ways he can impact the game.

A freak athlete from the wing who I found at Akron’s team camp, Berry is a two sport stud for Akron Garfield and a name to know in the Akron area. Really liked his explosiveness and ability to play above the rim. Berry was attacking downhill with a lot of aggression in the half-court and wanted to push the ball in transition. Still a little raw on the offensive end, I’ll be curious to see what type of numbers Berry puts up as a senior.

Another big time athlete, Caffey was a player I found out about from our Prep Hoops Circuit event hosted in Columbus, Ohio. Caffey is a long wing who played hard on both ends, rebounded the ball at a high level and finished above the rim. Another wing who has a ways to go with his offensive skill, Caffey showed enough flashes for me to be interested in his offensive development. Combine that with some defensive tools that stand out due to his length, quick twitch athleticism and anticipation and Caffey is an intriguing wing to keep tabs on who should be better later in his college career if he wants to play at the next level.

A new name I found out at the Puma Circuit the final live period weekend in July with Run as One, Carter really impressed me with his motor and production in the paint. A starter for DeSales last season, Carter should once again be a key piece as they fight for a conference title. Carter played well from the dunker spot, finishing a dunk and getting numerous offensive rebounds in the game I caught. Definitely a name for regional small college programs to check out this winter.

Bradshaw’s older brother Jayden has had a nice career at Marietta and Alex has a lot of similar physical tools including his burst, straight line speed and explosiveness as an athlete. Bradshaw averaged just over 9 PPG as a Junior and there’s no reason to think that number won’t be in double-figures this season. I liked the way Gem City Basketball Club shared the basketball when I watched their 17 U group this summer and Bradshaw was their most explosive athlete who could run in transition. A name to know in southwest Ohio’s 2025 class!
