Minnesota Vikings
• The Vikings have signed punter Ryan Quigley, creating off-season competition for the specialist role held by Jeff Locke for the past four years.Quigley has appeared in 51 games, with a net average of 38.9 yards per punt. He struggled in six games in the middle of last season for the Arizona Cardinals before being let go. Prior to that, he spent three years with the New York Jets. He was in training camp with the Chicago Bears as a rookie in 2012 after going undrafted out of Boston College.Quigley will contend for the job with Taylor Symmank, who was in rookie minicamp with the Vikings last year but didn’t make the team. Locke signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
•With the timetablefor Teddy Bridgewater’s returnfrom a major knee injury still clouded, theVikings are bringing in another veteran backup for Sam Bradford.The team signed formerRams quarterback Case Keenum to a one-year deal.Keenum, 29, has physical limitations at 6-1 and 205 pounds, but coaches and scouts like his moxie. He started 14 games for the Rams over the past two seasons, including nine last year, when he threw for nine touchdown passes and 11 interceptions before eventually giving way to No. 1 pick Jared Goff.Keenum is 9-15 in 24 NFL starts and has passed for 5,224 yards, 24 TDs and 20 INTs in his career.
•TheVikings have signed former Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray. Murray spent his first four NFL seasons with the Raiders. He ran for 788 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns last season. Murray was a sixth-round draft pick of the Raiders out of Central Florida in 2013. He has rushed for 2,278 yards and 20 touchdowns. Murray made his first Pro Bowl in 2015, after taking over as the Raiders’ No. 1 back and rushing for 1,066 yards and six TDs.
•Vikings signed defensive end Datone Jones, the former first-round pick of the rival Green Bay Packers.Joneswas selected 26th overall out of UCLA in the 2013 draft. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Jones played defensive end in 59 of a possible 64 regular-season games, mostly as a backup. He also played some outside linebacker in Green Bay’s 3-4 scheme.The Packers previously declined their fifth-year option on Jones that is built into every first-round pick’s contract. Jones has nine sacks and seven passes defended in his career.Jones was a college teammate of Vikings starting linebackers Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks.
• TheVikingssigned former Detroit Lions offensive tackle Riley Reiff. The five-year veteran started 69 games for the Lions, including 48 at left tackle and 14 at right tackle. Reiff grew up in South Dakota and played in college at Iowa.Reiff, who appeared in 78 of 82 games with the Lions, including the postseason, has a deal, according to multiple reports, worth a maximum of $58.75 million, including $26.3 million guaranteed.
• The Vikings signed former Carolina right tackle Mike Remmers before he finished his free agent visit to team headquarters.Remmers received a five-year contract worth as much as $30 million, with $10.5 million guaranteed, according to his agent Brett Tessler.

Eagles-Ravens trade
The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan from the Baltimore Ravens.The Eagles and Ravens also swapped third-round picks in the trade. Baltimore gets the 77th overall pick while Philadelphia moves down to No. 99.Jernigan, a second-round pick in 2014, has 13 sacks and one interception in three seasons. He had 31 tackles and five sacks while starting 15 games in 2016.
Washington Redskins
• The Redskins have signed inside linebacker Zach Brown, who made the Pro Bowl last season playing for the Buffalo Bills when he had 149 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.Brown, 27, has 410 tackles in five NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans and Bills. He missed most of the 2014 season with a torn pectoral muscle and was a part-time player the next year before revitalizing his career in Buffalo.With the addition of Brown, the Redskins have depth at middle linebacker that they were lacking last year when they missed the playoffs. They already have Mason Foster, and Will Compton is a restricted free agent who is expected to be back.
•The Washington Redskins have agreed to terms with former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Brian Quick. The signing adds depth to the Redskins’ receiving corps after they lost DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon in free agency. Quick, 27, had 41 catches for 564 yards and three touchdowns last season with the Rams.
•The Washington Redskins have signed linebacker Chris Carter, who has started four of 62 games in his six-year NFL career.The 27-year-old Carter split last season between the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens.He has also appeared in games with Pittsburgh and Cincinnati since entering the league in 2011.
• Terrelle Pryor signed a one-year contract worth up to $8 million. The 27-year-old Pryor spent the past two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, including a breakthrough 2016, his first year as a full-time wideout: 77 catches for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
• The Redskins are set to sign former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Terrell McClain to a four-year deal when free agency opens. McClain had 40 tackles and 2 1/2sacks last season for Dallas.
•The Redskins signedlinemen Stacy McGee. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder started nine games and had 2.5 sacks — both career highs — for the Oakland Raiders. He has played in 51 NFL games, making 18 starts.
• Washington signed safety D.J. Swearinger, who has six interceptions in four seasons with three clubs. He started the final 12 games of last season for the Arizona Cardinals, picking off three passes.
Tennessee Titans
• The Titans have agreed to terms with cornerback Demontre Hurst, who had spent the last four seasons with the Chicago Bears.Hurst played 10 games and made one start for the Bears last season. He had 14 tackles, one sack, one interception and a pair of special-teams stops.Titans general manager Jon Robinson said Hurst could contribute on defense and special teams.Hurst signed with the Bears in 2013 as a rookie free agent out of Oklahoma. After spending the entire 2013 season on the practice squad, Hurst played 15 games in 2014 and seven in 2015.
•The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with veteran offensive lineman Tim Lelito (Grand Valley State).The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Lelito has started 24 of his 63 games over the past four seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Lelito also has been versatile, starting 12 games at left guard, four at right guard, three at center and five as an extra tight end.
•The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a deal with defensive lineman Sylvester Williams, pending a physical. General manager Jon Robinson says he worked out Williams before the 2013 NFL draft, when Williams was selected by Denver at No. 28 overall. The 6-foot-2, 313-pound Williams started 48 of his 60 games in Denver with 93 tackles, 5 1/2sacks and 17 tackles for loss..
• The Tennessee Titans keep adding to their special teams, this time with a new kick returner in former Pro Bowler Eric Weems.The 10-year veteran was a Pro Bowl returner in 2010 with 102 special teams tackles in his career. He ranks fifth among active NFL players, averaging 10.8 yards on punt returns and 24.3 yards on 165 kickoff returns. He has played with Atlanta and Chicago.
•The Tennessee Titans are trying to improve their special teams in free agency, adding a second linebacker in Daren Bates. The Titans announced they have agreed to terms with the 5-foot-11, 225-pound linebacker who has 31 special teams tackles in 60 career games. Unsigned coming out of Auburn, Bates spent his first three seasons with the Rams and played all 16 games last season with Oakland, where he had seven special teams tackles and three tackles on defense.
•The Tennessee Titans have continued the reconstruction of their secondary by signing safeties Johnathan Cyprien and Brynden Trawick.Cyprien has 442 career tackles in four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a career-high 126 last season.Trawick led the Oakland Raiders with 14 special-teams tackles last season and had nine special-teams stops for the Baltimore Ravens in 2015.
•Neil Schwartz, the agent for cornerback Logan Ryan, tweeted that his client had signed with the Titans.
San Francisco 49ers
• The 49ers have signed free agent running back Tim Hightower, whohas experience playing for new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. He was in Washington in 2011 when Shanahan was offensive coordinator.Hightower missed the next three seasons with complications from a knee injury and spent the past two years in New Orleans. He had 133 carries for 548 yards last season with four touchdowns. He added 22 catches for 200 yards and a score.In six years with Arizona, Washington and New Orleans, Hightower has rushed for 2,977 yards with a 4.0 average per carry and has 162 receptions for 1,208 yards.
• The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent linebacker Dekoda Watson to a three-year contract.Watson, a seven-year NFL veteran who spent the last two seasons with Denver, is a special teams standout. He led the Broncos with 11 tackles on special teams last year in just nine games.
• The Niners agreed tofive-year deals with receiver Pierre Garcon and linebacker Malcolm Smith, andtwo-year deals with kicker Robbie Gould and receiver Marquise Goodwin.
• Quarterback Matt Barkley tweetedhereached a deal with San Francisco, following fellow Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer (Michigan State) to the Niners. Terms of Barkley's contract were not immediately disclosed. And aperson familiar with the contract said receiver Aldrick Robinson agreed to a two-year deal that could be worth up to $6 million.
•The49ers have agreed to a deal with free-agent tight end Logan Paulsen.Paulsen is more of a blocking tight end who has 82 career catches in six seasons with Washington and Chicago. He has ties to new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, having spent four years in Washington when Shanahan was offensive coordinator.
•The 49ers are making moves to upgrade their struggling offense, agreeing to a two-year deal with free agent quarterback Brian Hoyerand a four-year contract with Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk.San Francisco entered its first free agency period under new coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch with no quarterbacks on the roster.Hoyer made 13 starts for Cleveland in 2014, when Shanahan was offensive coordinator. Hoyer won seven of those starts and threw for a career-high 3,326 yards that season.
New Orleans Saints
•TheSaints have brought back former reserve quarterback Chase Daniel on a one-year contract.Danielreturns to New Orleans after four seasons away.Daniel spent last season with Philadelphia and was with Kansas City in 2013-15.Joining the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 2009, Daniel spent his first four pro seasons with the Saints. He has played 56 games with two starts during eight NFL seasons, completing 51 of 78 passes for 480 yards, one touchdown and one interception.Daniel is the second former Saint to be brought back this week.
•New Orleans re-signed safety Rafael Bush, who spent last season with Detroit.
•Veteran linebacker Manti Te’o has agreed sign a two-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.Te’o, a former Notre Dame star, has played 38 games during four NFL seasons, all with San Diego, where he’s made 221 solo or assisted tackles, including 1 1/2 sacks. He has two career interceptions.Last season, an Achilles injury limited Te’o to three games.
•Ted Ginn has agreed to a free agent deal with New Orleans.The 31-year old Ginn has eclipsed 700 yards receiving in each of the past two seasons with Carolina and had 10 touchdowns two seasons ago. He also is an experienced returner.He was known as a speedster coming into the league as first-round draft choice by Miami in 2007, but struggled with drops and all-around consistency early in his career.Heading into his 11th season, he’ll team up with one of the NFL’s most prolific quarterbacks in Drew Brees while providing New Orleans’ offense, which led the NFL in yards last season, another way to stretch defenses.
•An agent representing former Detroit Lions guard Larry Warford says the four-year Lions starterhas agreed to join the Saintsin free agency. Jonathan Feinsod, who confirmed the agreement between his client and New Orleans to the Associated Press on Thursday, says his agency is not immediately disclosing the terms of the deal, which was first reported by NFL Network. The 25-year-old Warford has played four seasons in the NFL — all with Detroit — starting all 57 games in which he has played following his college career at Kentucky. New Orleans’ acquisition of the 6-foot-3, 317-pound Warford adds depth to an interior offensive line that could lose 2016 starting right guard Jahri Evans in free agency.
•Freeagent middle linebacker A.J. Klein, who has been Luke Kuechly’s backup for the past four seasons in Carolina, announced on social media that he is signing with the NFC South Division rival New Orleans Saints. Klein wrote on his verified Twitter account: “Excited to be a Saint! Looking forward to 2017 season! #whodat” The 25-year-old Klein has appeared in 60 career NFL games, starting 23, since beginning his career in Carolina in 2013. The former Iowa State player has with 146 tackles, four sacks and four forced fumbles in his NFL career.
Philadelphia Eagles
• The Eagles have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with defensive end Chris Long, who won a Super Bowl last season with New England.The No. 2 overall draft pick by the Rams in 2008, Long spent eight seasons with St. Louis before he joined the Patriots in 2016.Long has 342 tackles, 58 1/2 sacks, nine forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 130 games.He had four sacks and 10 quarterback hits in 16 games for New England and was an integral part of a defense that allowed an NFL-low 250 points.
•The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with quarterback Nick Foles, who started his college career at Michigan State. The 28-year-old returns to the team that drafted him and where he had his most success, goingto the Pro Bowl after having one of the best statistical seasons in NFL history in 2013. Foles will be Carson Wentz’s backup.
• The Eagles have agreed on a one-year deal with right guard Chance Warmack. The 25-year-old Warmack was the 10th overall pick in the 2013 draft out of Alabama. He spent the first four years of his career with the Titans, starting 48 games. Warmack was placed on injured reserve last September with a hand injury. He played under Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland in college.
•TheEagles have agreed to terms with Chicago wide receiver Alshon Jeffery on a one-year contract. Jeffery was considered the top receiver available in free agency, but he couldn’t secure a long-term deal to remain in Chicago or from another team. Jeffery is coming off two down seasons, and he missed 11 games due to injury and suspension. His last standout season came in 2014, when he had 1,133 yards receiving and 10 TDs. Jeffery went to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after catching 89 passes for 1,421 yards and seven TDs.
• ReceiverTorrey Smith agreed to a three-year deal with Philadelphia less than a week after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles cleared cap space earlier in the day by releasing former U-D Jesuit star defensive end Connor Barwin, saving $7.75 million. The 28-year-old Smith caught 53 passes for 930 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the 49ers. He never became the deep threat that he was with Baltimore, where he helped the Ravens beat San Francisco in the Super Bowl following the 2012 season. Smith had just 20 catches for 267 yards last season before missing the final three games with a concussion. In six seasons, Smith has 266 catches for 4,521 yards and 37 touchdowns.
New York Jets
•The Jets have signed former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison.Harrison was not tendered a restricted free agent contract by the Colts earlier this month, making him an unrestricted free agent.He is expected to add depth on the Jets’ offensive line and possibly compete at center with Wesley Johnson, who has not yet signed his restricted free agent tender. The versatile Harrison played in 13 games last season, including four starts at left guard, but has also played at every spot on the offensive line.
•The New York Jets have signed former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the 49ers. A fourth-round pick of San Francisco out of Louisiana Tech in 2013, Patton set career highs with 37 receptions and 408 yards receiving last season. New Jets offensive coordinator John Morton was Patton’s position coach in San Francisco in 2013 and ‘14.
•Jetssigned former Packers defensive lineman Mike Pennel to a one-year deal.Pennel was initially claimed off waivers from the Packers on Feb. 7, but the Jets didn’t tender him as a restricted free agent — making him an unrestricted free agent.Pennel played in eight games last season for the Packers after being suspended at the start of the year and at the end, each time for four games, for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He played in 37 games overall in three seasons in Green Bay, making five starts in 2015.Pennel was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo in 2014. He has 40 career tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
• The New York Jets have signed veteran free-agent quarterback Josh McCown to a one-year deal.Agent Mike McCartney announced on Twitter that the contract is for one season. The Jets had just the inexperienced Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on their roster, and McCown provides a veteran presence who could potentially start and be a mentor to the youngsters.McCown, who’ll turn 38 on July 4, played the past two seasons with Cleveland.
• The Jets have signed former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne to a one-year deal.Claiborne, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, will help the Jets replace Darrelle Revis.Financial terms weren’t immediately available, but multiple outlets reported that the deal is for $5 million.Claiborne has been hampered by injuries during his career. He sat out the last nine regular-season games last year with a groin injury. Claiborne returned for the Cowboys’ NFC divisional-round playoff loss to Green Bay, but left that game with a rib injury.
Green Bay Packers
• The Green Bay Packers have signed free agent tackle Ricky Jean-Francois, adding depth to a defensive front depleted in the off-season.The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Jean-Francois spent the last two seasons with the Washington Redskins. A seventh-round draft pick by San Francisco in 2009, Jean-Francois’ most productive season came with Indianapolis in 2014, when he had three sacks and started 13 of 16 games.
•While on avisit with the Steelers, free agent cornerback Davon House agreed to a one-year deal with the Packers. According to the NFL Network, the Packers will pay House $3.5 million on a one-year deal. House was a fourth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2011 and played his first four seasons there before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015. A day earlier, outside linebacker Jay Elliott visited the Steelers before re-signing with the Packers.
• The Packers have signed Martellus Bennett, giving quarterback Aaron Rodgers a prolific pass-catching target at tight end.The addition of Bennett likely means that last year’s starter, Jared Cook, won’t return to Green Bay.The nine-year veteran, Bennett played last season for New England, making 55 catches for 701 yards and seven touchdowns over 16 games.
Seattle Seahawks
•The Seattle Seahawks have continued to address depth concerns at linebacker by signing veteran Michael Wilhoite to a one-year deal.Wilhoite has spent all five of his NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, becoming a starter for parts of the past three seasons.Wilhoite, 30, played mostly as an inside linebacker in the 49ers’ defensive system. He started all 16 games in 2014, 12 games in 2015 and six games last season. Wilhoite had a career-high 87 tackles in 2014 and last season had 55 tackles despite playing mostly in a reserve role.
•The Seahawksadded depth in the secondary by signing defensive back Bradley McDougaldand added kicker John Lunsford. McDougald spent the past four seasons with Tampa Bay. He started 31 of 32 games played the past two seasons, primarily at free safety. Last season, McDougald started all 16 games, recording a career-high 91 tackles, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions. He’s also shifted at times to cornerback and played strong safety in the past, which made him an attractive option for Seattle’s secondary that was seeking versatile depth upgrades after being thinned by injury last season. Lunsford was waived by Tampa Bayand joins Blair Walsh in the competition to be Seattle’s kicker after Steven Hauschka signed with Buffalo in free agency.
•Seattleadded depth on the offensive line by signing former Houston guard Oday Aboushi. He spent his first two seasons with the New York Jets and the past two years with Houston. Aboushi made eight starts and appeared in 11 games during his time with the Texans. He started 10 games in his two seasons with the Jets.
•Eddie Lacy’s agent says the former Green Bay running back is joining the Seahawks.Lacy’s management group, Sports Trust Advisors, said on Twitter that the four-year veteran has agreed to terms with the Seahawks.Lacy was the offensive rookie of the year in 2013, when he rushed for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also ran for more than 1,100 yards in 2014, but has since been slowed by injuries and lost favor with Packers coach Mike McCarthy at times.Last season, Lacy played in only five games, sidelined by ankle problems.
•The Seattle Seahawks have signed former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel as they look to bolster their offensive line.It’s believed to be a one-year deal. Joeckel was supposed to anchor Jacksonville’s line when he was selected second overall in 2013. He started all 39 games in his four seasons with the Jaguars, mostly at left tackle. He moved to left guard last season but played in just four games because of knee surgery.
Jacksonville Jaguars
• The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive end Malliciah Goodman, who has appeared in 37 career games with 11 starts, getting 29 tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.Goodman was originally selected by Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He spent his first three seasons (2013-15) with the Falcons. He appeared in one game for Seattle last season before returning to Atlanta and playing in two games for the Falcons.
• TheJaguarssigned free agent tight end Mychal Rivera to a two-year contract.Rivera spent the first four years of his NFL career in Oakland, where he caught 146 passes for 1,413 yards and 10 touchdowns in 61 games.A sixth-round draft pick from Tennessee in 2013, Rivera had 38 receptions for 407 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie. The Valencia, California, native was even better in 2014, catching 58 passes for 534 yards and four scores. Rivera’s production dipped the last two years.Rivera says being in Jacksonville “is just an incredible opportunity.”He is expected to compete for playing time with veteran Marcedes Lewis, Ben Koyack and Neal Sterling.
•Jacksonvillesigned free agent linebacker Josh McNary, adding another backup expected to bolster special teams. McNary appeared in 49 games for Indianapolis after signing an undrafted rookie in 2013. During his four seasons with the Colts, McNary totaled 60 tackles.
• The Jaguars have signed three unrestricted free agents: defensive tackle Stefan Charles, linebacker Audie Cole and offensive lineman Earl Watford.The 28-year-old Charles has appeared in 49 games in four years with Detroit and Buffalo. He played in 12 games last season for the Lions, totaling 12 tackles before being placed on injured reserve in late December.The 27-year-old Cole has appeared in 57 games in five years in Minnesota. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2012 draft, Cole has 65 tackles and two passes defensed. He appeared in all 16 games last season.The 26-year-old Watford has appeared in 33 games, with 12 starts, for Arizona. Originally picked in the fourth round of the 2013 draft, Watford started 10 games last season.
• TheJaguars are spending big in free agency for the third consecutive year. According to a person familiar with the deals, the Jaguars have agreed to terms with Arizona defensive end Calais Campbell and Dallas safety Barry Church.Campbell agreed to a four-year deal worth $60 million, with $30 million guaranteed, the person said. Church agreed to a four-year contract worth around $24 million. The duo should significantly upgrade a defense that ranked sixth in the NFL in 2016 but failed to general game-changing turnovers. The 30-year-old Campbell will replace Jared Odrick, who was released last month. The 29-year-old Church will replace Johnathan Cyprien, a second-round draft pick in 2013.
•Jacksonville has agreed to terms on a five-year, $67.5 million contract with Houston cornerback A.J. Bouye.Bouye, whose deal includes $26 million guaranteed, was one of the most sought-after free agents on the market. Paired opposite budding star Jalen Ramsey, Bouye should give the Jaguars one of the best cover tandems in the league.
• The Jagsagreed to terms with Buffalo linebacker Lerentee McCray on a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million. The deal includes $1 million guaranteed. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the Jaguars won’t announce any deals until players formally sign. McCray played just 163 snaps as a backup last season. He is expected to play behind Paul Posluszny, Telvin Smith and Myles Jack in 2017 while being a key member on special teams.
Chicago Bears
•The Chicago Bears have signed quarterback Mark Sanchez, who is expected to back up Mike Glennon next season. The Bears cut quarterback Jay Cutler this off-season and, the next day, signed Glennon of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a three-year deal. Sanchez played in two games last season with the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 93 yards on 18 attempts.
•The Chicago Bears boosted their kickoff return game, signing Benny Cunningham to a one-year contract.Cunningham ranked among the top kickoff returners in the NFL the past four years with the St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams. His 2,575 yards in that span rank fourth, and he had the league’s third-highest return average at 27.2 yards last season. He also ran for 101 yards in 2016 and has rushed for 748 yards over four seasons.
•The Bears continued a flurry of roster additions by addressing the two areas on the depth chart with the most glaring needs, agreeing to terms with veteran wide receiver Kendall Wright on a one-year contract. Wright, the 20th overall pick in the 2012 draft, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Titans and had a career year in 2013 when Dowell Loggains was the offensive coordinator in Tennessee. Wright, 27, had 94 receptions for 1,079 yards and two touchdowns. He projects to be the replacement for Eddie Royal.
• The Chicago Bears have signed freeagent cornerbacks Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper. Amukamara, who has appeared in 69 games with 57 starts over six seasons, signed a one-year contract. He played for the New York Giants from 2011-15 and Jacksonville last season.Cooper, who signed a three-year contract, has appeared in 54 games with 24 starts with Kansas City and Arizona. • The Chicago Bears finalized contracts with four free agents after a busy first day on the market, starting with a three-year contract for new quarterback Mike Glennon. The Bears also signed safety Quintin Demps from Houston and former Michigan State tight end Dion Sims from Miami to three-year deals, and wide receiver Markus Wheaton from Pittsburgh to a two-year contract.Glennon left Tampa Bay for a front-loaded deal with a reported $18.5 million guaranteed from the Bears, who released quarterback Jay Cutler after eight seasons as their starter.
Los Angeles Rams
•The Los Angeles Rams have signed quarterback Aaron Murray, whois expected to be the third-string quarterback. He was a fifth-round pick by Kansas City in 2014, and he spent two seasons with the Chiefs before getting cut and finishing last season on Philadelphia’s practice squad.
•The Los Angeles Rams have signed linebacker Connor Barwin, one week after the former U-D Jesuit star was released by the Philadelphia Eagles. Barwin is an eight-year veteran who spent his first four seasons with the Houston Texans. He played two years there under Wade Phillips, the Rams’ new defensive coordinator. He spent the past four seasons with the Eagles, starting all 64 regular-season games. He made the 2014 Pro Bowl, after recording 14 1/2sacks.
•The Los Angeles Rams signed defensive back Kayvon Webster and running back Lance Dunbar and re-signed kicker Greg Zuerlein.Webster was a key specialteams contributor for the Denver Broncos for the past four years. He hopes to play more as a defensive back under Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who ran Denver’s defense for the past two years.Dunbar spent his first five NFL seasons as a backup with the Dallas Cowboys, carrying the ball just 94 times.
•The Rams addressed their two biggest needs by agreeing to terms with offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth and receiver Robert Woods.Whitworth got a three-year deal to leave the Cincinnati Bengals, and Woods got a five-year deal to return home to LA from Buffalo.Whitworth has spent his entire 11-year career in Cincinnati, making three Pro Bowls. He is likely to replace Greg Robinson as Los Angeles’ starting left tackle on the NFL’s worst offense last season.
New York Giants
•The New York Giants have signed veteran running back Shaun Draughn. He has played for six teams in six years, most recently the San Francisco 49ers. He has played in 57 games with seven starts. His career totals include 225 carries for 723 yards and seven touchdowns, plus 80 receptions for 597 yards and two scores. He also has 17 special teams tackles.
•A person familiar with the decision tells the Associated Press that quarterback Geno Smith has agreed to terms with the New York Giants, leaving the Jets but staying in the same stadium. The 26-year-old Smith was a second-round draft choice by the Jets in 2013, but his stint with them was marred by injuries and inconsistency. Smith tore his ACL against Baltimore this past fall and was done for the season.
•TheGiantssigned former San Diego offensive lineman D.J. Fluker to a one-year, $3 million deal.The 11th pick overall in 2013, Fluker started 61 of 66 regular-season and postseason games for San Diego over the last four seasons. He was releasedby the Chargers.Fluker started 31 games in the regular season and two playoff games at right tackle in his first two seasons. He started 12 games at right guard in 2015, and all 16 last season.
•Tight end Rhett Ellison, who also can be used as an H-back and fullback, has joined the New York Giants. Ellison spent the last five seasons with Minnesota. Ellison, whose father, Riki, won three Super Bowls with San Francisco, has played in 73 regular-season games with 41 starts. He caught 51 passes for 515 yards, with a long reception of 41 yards, and three touchdowns, while mostly being used for his blocking.
•TheGiants have signed free agent receiver Brandon Marshall to a two-year contact. The Jets released Marshall, making him eligible to sign with any team before the start of free agency. Marshall, who will turn 33 this month, had 59 catches for 788 yards and three touchdowns last season.
Indianapolis Colts
•Free agent wide receiver Kamar Aiken has signed with the Indianapolis Colts. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Central Florida product spent the past four seasons with Baltimore. He entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Buffalo Bills in 2011 and spent most of his three years on the practice squad in Buffalo, Chicago and Baltimore. He also played one game for the New England Patriots in 2012. Aiken had a career season in 2015, leading the Ravens with 75 receptions, 944 yards and five TD catches. Last season, he had 29 catches for 328 yards and one TD. The move comes one day after Indy signed tight end Brandon Williams from Seattle. The four-year veteran also has played with Carolina and Miami.
•Indianapolis has signed inside linebacker Sean Spence, the latest move in a major defensive overhaul.Spence joins a free agent class that includes outside linebackers Jabaal Sheard, John Simon and Barkevious Mingo, nose tackle Al Woods and defensive end Margus Hunt. Indy also has re-signed defensive back Darius Butler. Spence was Pittsburgh’s third-round pick in 2012. After four seasons with the Steelers, he played with Tennessee last season and had 77 tackles and three sacks — both career highs.
• The Colts have signed two more free agents — defensive end Margus Hunt and offensive lineman Brian Schwenke.Hunt was Cincinnati’s second-round pick in 2013 and played in 44 games, with 26 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and three passes defensed. The 6-foot-8, 295-pound Hunt also blocked three kicks.General manager Chris Ballard also made a rare play on the offensive side by signing Schwenke, a 6-3, 315-pound center-guard. He was Tennessee’s fourth-round pick in 2013 and made 28 starts in four seasons.
• TheColts signed former Vikings punter Jeff Locke to a two-year contract, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.Locke replaces Pro Bowl punter Pat McAfee, who retired unexpectedly in January. McAfee also was one of the league’s top kickoff specialists. In four seasons with Minnesota, Locke averaged 43.2 yards per kick. It’s not yet clear whom the Colts will ask to kick off next season or hold kicks for Adam Vinatieri, still the oldest player in the league at age 44.
• Former New England linebacker Barkevious Mingo has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with theColts. Mingo’s deal is worth $2.5 million, his agent confirmed. Indy was in desperate need of linebackers. After outside linebacker Robert Mathis retired, the Colts’ top two outside linebackers — Erik Walden and Trent Cole — both became free agents. Ballard also released inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson last month. Mingo was Cleveland’s first-round draft pick in 2013, No. 6 overall. He has 72 tackles in his career including four in 2016, his only season with the Patriots.

Atlanta Falcons
•The Atlanta Falcons have signed fullbacks Derrick Coleman and Soma Vainuku to fill the void left by the loss of Patrick DiMarco in free agency. The Falcons also announced the signing of guard Hugh Thornton, who could take over for Chris Chester on the offensive line. The 34-year-old Chester has yet to re-sign and might retire. Coleman, who is deaf, played in 31 games with seven starts for the Seattle Seahawks. Vainuku was signed by the Houston Texans last season after going undrafted out of college. Thornton was a third-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. He had played in 37 games, including 32 starts, as he switched between left and right guard.
•The Atlanta Falcons have bolstered their defensive line by agreeing to terms with two-time Pro Bowler Dontari Poe.The 6-foot-3, 346-pound tackle, 26,has played for the Kansas City Chiefs since being a first-round pick. He started 76 games and recorded 13 sacks over five seasons, while claiming Pro Bowl spots in 2013 and 2014.This past year, Poe had 1.5 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.
•The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed safety Kemal Ishmael and have signed wide receiver and return specialist Andre Roberts from Detroit. Ishmael, who signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract, saw his value rise in 2016 as he made four fill-in starts. He also showed his versatility at linebacker. Roberts, who signed a one-year, $1.8 million deal, is expected to provide depth at receiver and contend for a starting job on returns. He returned two punts for touchdowns with Detroit in 2016.
•TheFalcons have bolstered their defensive line by signing Dallas defensive end Jack Crawford to a three-year deal. Crawford has 7 1/2sacks the last two seasons and will give Atlanta a needed complement to All-Pro edge rusher Vic Beasley. The 28-year-old Crawford had 3 1/2sacks for Dallas in 2016.
Pittsburgh Steelers
•The Steelers have signed free agent defensive end Tyson Alualu to a two-year contract in hopes of bolstering their pass rush.Alualu spent his first seven seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars but struggled to live up to his billing after the team drafted him 10th overall in 2010.The 29-year-old Alualu played in 14 games last season, finishing with 2.5 sacks. His arrival gives the Steelers depth behind Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt.
•The Pittsburgh Steelers bolstered their depth behind running back Le’Veon Bell, signing former Kansas City back Knile Davis to a one-year contract. Davis played three-plus seasons with the Chiefs, who selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft. Davis, 25, ran for 463 yards and six touchdowns, both career highs, with Kansas City in 2014. His playing time diminished in in 2015. Last fall the Chiefs traded Davis to Kansas City for a seventh-round choice in the 2018 draft. Davis appeared in just two games for the Packers, managing just five yards rushing and four receiving.
• The Steelers signedcornerback Coty Sensabaugh, whospent the first four years of his career with Tennessee before splitting time with the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants.The 28-year-old Sensabaugh has two interceptions and 22 passes defensed while appearing in 77 games, 29 as a starter. He will get a chance to play on both the outside and as a nickel back for the Steelers, who are looking for someone to play opposite Artie Burns, who blossomed late in the season as a rookie in 2016.
•The Pittsburgh Steelers have added depth at wide receiver, signing free agent Justin Hunter to a one-year deal.The 25-year-old split time between Buffalo and Miami in 2016, catching 10 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns. Hunter has 78 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns while playing for the Titans, the Bills and the Dolphins.
•TheSteelers have signed veteran tight end David Johnson to a two-year contract. The 29-year-old Johnson serves primarily as a blocking tight end behind Ladarius Green and Jesse James. Johnson caught seven passes for 80 yards in 2016. Johnson is most adept in short-yardage and running situations, helping open up holes for Le’Veon Bell. The Steelers have money to spend under the salary cap this spring but are likely to focus on an edge rusher and linebacker rather than tight end even after Green was limited to just a handful of games due to ankle issues and a concussion.
Oakland Raiders
•The Oakland Raiders have signed former first-round pick EJ Manuel as a backup quarterback and linebacker Jelani Jenkins.Manuel was picked 16th overall by Buffalo in 2013, but started just 17 games in four seasons with the Bills. Current Raiders offensive coordinator Todd Downing was Manuel’s position coach in 2014 and a big attraction in coming to Oakland.Jenkins started 34 games with Miami the past four years. He had 219 tackles, 3½ sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He will compete to fill the void of departed free agent Malcolm Smith.
•The Oakland Raiders signed free agent tight end Jared Cook. NFL Network first reported that the deal with Cook and said it is worth $12.2 million over two years with $5 million guaranteed in the first year.Cook had 30 catches for 377 yards and one touchdown last season, when he missed six games with an ankle injury. His biggest play came on a 36-yard catch that set up a last-second, game-winning field goal in Green Bay’s 34-31 playoff win over Dallas.
•The Oakland Raiders have agreed on a contract with All-Pro kick returner and speedy receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. He is a former first-round pick by Minnesota in 2013. He caught only 132 passes in four seasons with the Vikingsbut is one of the most dangerous kickoff returners in the game. He averages 30.4 yards per return with five TDs in his career, including one at Oakland in 2015.
•The Oakland Raiders added their first free agent of the league year, agreeing to a two-year deal with former New York Giants offensive lineman Marshall Newhouse.After being extremely active in free agency the past two off-seasons, the Raiders have not been nearly as aggressive this year after winning 12 games last season to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
Los Angeles Chargers
•The Los Angeles Chargers added running back Kenjon Barner on a one-year deal.Barner spent the past two seasons with the Eagles after being drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round in 2013. He played in eight games for the Panthers in 2013 before being traded to Philadelphia in 2014. He has 61 carries for 260 yards and two touchdowns and 16 catches for 71 yards.
•The Los Angeles Chargers have landed Russell Okung, the most prominent free agent left tackle still on the market. The Chargers announced a four-year deal for Okung, who spent last season with the Denver Broncos after playing his first six seasons in Seattle. Okung, who struggled in Denver, has excelled in run blocking and pass protection, and he appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls with the Seahawks. His arrival could jump-start the Chargers’ running game for Melvin Gordon.
Cleveland Browns
•The Browns signed free agent kicker Brett Maher to compete with Cody Parkey for the starting job. Maher, 27, spent the past three seasons in the Canadian Football League, where he connected on 41 of 50 field goal tries and scored 161 points for Winnipeg, Ottawa and Hamilton.
• Still looking for that elusive quarterback, the Browns have found that mystery man another target by agreeing to terms with free agent receiver Kenny Britt on a four-year, $32.5 million contract. The 28-year-old Britt had a career-best 68 catches for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns last season forthe Rams.
•Cleveland will sign free agent right guard Kevin Zeitler when the free agency signing period opens, a person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press. Zeitler’s signing will follow the team giving left guard Joel Bitonio a five-year extension.Zeitler, who spent the past five seasons with Cincinnati, will be reunited in Cleveland with coach Hue Jackson. Before he was hired by the Browns, Jackson spent two seasons as the Bengals defensive coordinator. Zeitler will replace John Greco, who underwent foot surgery last season.
Cincinnati Bengals
•The Bengals signed linebacker Kevin Minter to a one-year deal, filling the opening from Karlos Dansby’s departure for Arizona as a free agent. Minter is entering his fifth season. He was Arizona’s second-round pick in 2013 and has played in 61 consecutive games. He had a career-high 3 1/2sacks last season.
Buffalo Bills
•The Buffalo Bills have addressed a key off-season need at receiver by agreeing to sign free agent Andre Holmes (Hillsdale College).He has five seasons of NFL experience, including the past four in Oakland where he played behind starters Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.Listed at 6-foot-5 and 208 pounds, Holmes was limited to 14 catches for 126 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games last season. His best year came in 2014, when he had 47 catches for a team-leading 693 yards and four touchdowns.
• The Buffalo Bills began restocking their defensive line depth by agreeing to sign Ryan Davis. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, Davis primarily hasplayed as a backup defensive end over five NFL seasons. He was an undrafted free agent out of Bethune-Cookman and played his first four NFL seasons with Jacksonville before spending last year in Dallas. Overall, Davis has 11 sacks, an interception and three forced fumbles in 47 career games.
• Buffalo agreed to terms withreceiver Corey (Philly)Brown. Brownhad visited the Detroit Lions. He spent the past three seasons with the Carolina Panthers, catching 79 passes for 1,019 yards and seven touchdowns in 43 games (22 starts). First-year Bills coach Sean McDermott is familiar with Brown, having served as Carolina’s defensive coordinator from 2011-16. Brown entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State in 2014. He was originally a restricted free agent this off-season but did not receive a tender from Carolina.
• TheBills began addressing their needs at safety by signing free agents Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Hyde is the key addition and agreed to sign a five-year deal worth about $30 million, with about $14 million in guarantees, a person with direct knowledge of the contract told the Associated Press. The Bills also filled their kicking vacancy by signing Steven Hauschka and confirmed previously reported agreed to deals to sign fullback Patrick DiMarco and offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse. Hyde has been a four-year starter at Green Bay since being selected in the fifth-round of the 2013 draft. Poyer has four years of NFL experience, and spent the past three-plus seasons in Cleveland. Hauschka fills the spot left open after veteran Dan Carpenter was released.

•Veteran kicker Nick Folk has signed with theBuccaneers.The 10-year pro spent the past seven seasons with the New York Jets, ranking second in franchise history with 172 field goals. He was 27 of 31 last season while converting 24 of 26 extra point attempts.With Tampa Bay, he’ll compete for a job with Roberto Aguayo, a second-round draft pick a year ago who was inconsistent as a rookie when he was 22 of 31 on field goal attempts.
•Tampa Bay added a deep threat for Jameis Winston when it agreed to terms with receiver DeSean Jackson on a three-year contract.Jackson, a three-time Pro Bowler known for making big plays, spent the past three seasons with Washington. Before that, he was with the Eagles for six years.Jackson is one of five players since the 1970 merger with 26 or more career touchdowns of 50-plus yards, joining Jerry Rice (36), Randy Moss (29), Terrell Owens (26) and Steve Smith (26). Only Rice (23) has more than Jackson’s 22 touchdowns of 60-plus yards.
Baltimore Ravens
•The Baltimore Ravens and free agent cornerback Brandon Carr (Detroit) have reached an agreement on a four-year contract. The Ravens battled with depth at the position last season, especially after Jimmy Smith (ankle) went on injured reserve. The 30-year-old Carr played with Dallas from 2012-16 after starting his career in Kansas City. His run of 144 consecutive starts is the NFL’s longest streak among cornerbacks. Carr had 61 tackles, an interception and knocked away nine passes in 2016.
•Baltimore hasreached agreement with free agent safety Tony Jefferson and running back Danny Woodhead. Jefferson made 96 tackles for the Arizona Cardinals last season. The 25-year-old has two interceptions over four seasons but is known primarily as a sure tackler and should form a solid 1-2 punch with safety Eric Weddle. Woodhead, 32, played the past four seasons with San Diego after a successful three-year run with the New England Patriots.
49ers-Ravens trade
The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to acquire center Jeremy Zuttah from the Baltimore Ravens for an exchange of draft picks. The Ravens will move up 12 spots in the sixth round in the deal. Baltimore will now select with the 186th pick, while San Francisco will have the 198th selection. Zuttah must pass a physical to make the deal official. The Ravens reportedly were going to release Zuttah to save $5.8 million in salary cap space before making the trade. Zuttah has started 117 games in nine seasons, including all 16 games last season when he was picked for the Pro Bowl.
Arizona Cardinals
• Free agent linebacker Jarvis Jones signed with the Cardinals. A first-round draft choice in 2013 out of Georgia, Jones spent his first four years in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but never made a big impact. He played in 50 games with 35 starts and had 125 tackles, six sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Jones could step in for Alex Okafor, who left Arizona for New Orleans. He is the second linebacker to leave the Steelers in free agency; 10-year veteran Lawrence Timmons went to Miami. Last season, Jones lost his starting job in Pittsburgh, which had declined to pick up his fifth-year option last year.
•Safety Antoine Bethea, released by San Francisco,agreed to a three-year contract with Arizona. The Cardinals also brought back center A.Q. Shipley on a two-year deal. Bethea is a three-time Pro Bowl player (2007, 2009, 2014) and an 11-year NFL veteran who spent his first eight seasons with the Colts (2006-13). He has nine 100-plus tackle seasons, including a team-leading 135 tackles in 2016.
New England Patriots
• The Patriots signed free agent running back Rex Burkhead.Burkhead, 26, comes from Cincinnati, where he has spent all four years of his NFL career since being drafted in the sixth round out of Nebraska in 2013. He appeared in all 16 regular-season games each of the past two seasons. He rushed for 344 yards and two touchdowns for the Bengals in 2016. He also has 27 special teams tackles in his career, including consecutive 10-plus tackle seasons with 11 in 2015 and 12 in 2016. Burkhead is expected to be used primarily on special teams for the Patriots and could be a replacement for Brandon Bolden, who is an unrestricted free agent.
• The Patriots have made a move to fill some losses on defense this off-season with the signing of free agent lineman Lawrence Guy,27, is a six-year NFL veteran, with stops in Green Bay, Indianapolis, San Diego and most recently Baltimore. He appeared in 16 games each of the past two seasons with the Ravens, with 5 1/2 sacks over the span.
Kansas City Chiefs
•The Chiefs signed defensive tackle Bennie Logan to a one-year contract, filling the void left by free agent Dontari Poe in the middle of the defensive line. Logan made 51 starts and appeared in 59 games during the past four seasons in Philadelphia. He made 24 tackles and had 2 1/2sacks last season, when he played for former Chiefs offensive coordinator and longtime Andy Reid assistant Doug Pederson. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Logan was a third-round pick out of LSU. He’s made 164 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 5 1/2sacks during his professional career.
Dallas Cowboys
•The Dallas Cowboys have signed the four players who agreed to contracts on a busy second day of free agency, including the return of Terrance Williams as the No. 2 receiver behind Dez Bryant. Williams signed a $17-million, four-year deal. The other three are newcomers — cornerback Nolan Carroll and defensive linemen Stephen Paea and Demontra Moore. Carroll joins Dallas from NFC East rival Philadelphia on a $10-million, three-year deal. Paea, a defensive tackle who was with Cleveland last season, and Moore, a defensive end for Seattle a year ago, signed one-year deals.

•A person with knowledge of the deals tells the Associated Press that the Broncos have agreed to terms with free agent defensive tackles Domata Peko of the Bengals and Zach Kerr of the Colts.Peko (Michigan State) and Kerr agreed to two-year deals.Peko, whose deal is worth $7.5 million, is the second longtime Bengals lineman to leave Cincinnati in free agency, joining offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth, who signed with the Rams. Peko started all 16 games in nine of his 11 seasons with the Bengals.
•TheBroncos have signed a former Dallas Cowboys player in free agency. It wasn’t Tony Romo as so many fans were anticipating, but guard Ronald Leary, whowill sign a four-year, $35-million deal that includes $20 million guaranteed. He’s expected to slide in at left guard with Max Garcia moving over to battle it out with Michael Schofield on the right side.
Patriots-Saints trade
• A person familiar with the deal says the New Orleans Saints have agreed to trade receiver Brandin Cooks, 23, and a fourth-round pick to the New England Patriots for a 2017 first-round selection and a third-round pick.Cooks has appeared in all 16 regular-season games for New Orleans the past two years and is coming off back-to-back 1,100-yard receiving seasons, in which he also had 17 touchdowns.
Carolina Panthers
•A person familiar with the negotiations says the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defensive end Julius Peppers, the team’s top pick in the 2002 draft and all-time sacks leader. Peppers’ agent, Carl Carey, tweeted a picture of Peppers when he was drafted No. 2 overall by Carolina in 2002 with the words “Headed home.” The 37-year-old Peppers has 143 1/2sacks during 15 NFL seasons, including 7 1/2last season for the Green Bay Packers. Peppers played eight seasons for the Panthers and was selected All-Pro twice during that span.
•A person familiar with the situation says thePanthers have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent left tackle Matt Kalil from the Minnesota Vikings on a five-year deal worth $55.5 million. Of that, $25 million is guaranteed. Kalil, who spent five seasons in Minnesota after being selected fourth overall in 2012, will play with older brother Ryan Kalil, Carolina’s two-time All-Pro center. The 27-year-old Kalil played in all 64 games his first four seasons in Minnesota, but missed 14 in 2016 due to a hip injury that required surgery.
Miami Dolphins
•A person familiar with the negotiations says linebacker Lawrence Timmons has agreed to a $12-million, two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.Timmons, who agreed to the deal after visiting South Florida, spent the past 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has started every game since 2011. He had 78 tackles and 2½ sacks last year.
•The Dolphins announced they signed center-guard Ted Larsen, who has made 65 career starts, including eight last year with the Chicago Bears.
Dolphins-Jaguars trade
Tight end Julius Thomas isbeing reunited with Adam Gase. Thomas knows Gase’s offense well, after catching 24 touchdown passes in 2013-14 when both were with the Denver Broncos. Now Gase is the head coach of the Dolphins, who traded for Thomas from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2017 seventh-round draft pick.

The Rams traded defensive end William Hayes to the Dolphins. The clubs also exchanged draft picks, with Miami getting a seventh-round pick and the Rams getting a sixth-round pick.
Hayes spent the past five seasons as a key rotation member of the Rams’ powerful defensive line. He started 14 games last year, getting 43 tackles and five sacks.
The Rams are transitioning to a 3-4 defense next season under new coordinator Wade Phillips, and Hayes has been in 4-3 schemes most of his career.

Browns-Texans trade
A person familiar with the trade says the Cleveland Browns have acquired quarterback Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans.
Cleveland sent a fourth-round selection to Houston for Osweiler, a 2018 second-round pick and a sixth rounder. Osweiler’s massive contract this season made him difficult to move without adding the draft picks.
Cleveland has been searching for a franchise quarterback, but Osweiler failed to fill that role for the Texans. The Browns do have a roster decision to make in the next few days on Robert Griffin III, and Osweiler gives them a temporary option.
Osweiler went 8-6 in 14 starts for Houston last season. The Texans are in the market to upgrade the position in free agency and through a trade or a free agent, including possibly Tony Romo.

Patriots-Colts trade
Tight end Dwayne Allen is eager to get started with the New England Patriots after the Indianapolis Colts traded him on the eve of free agency.
Allen acknowledged the trade on Twitter, where he thanked Colts fans for their support and wrote he was “humbled and eager to earn the right to be called a New England Patriot” on Twitter. NFL.com reported the Colts will send Allen and a sixth-round draft choice in exchange for the Patriots’ fourth-round pick.
The move comes one day after Indy kept backup tight end Jack Doyle off the free-agent market with a three-year deal worth about $6.3 million per year. Allen signed a four-year deal worth $29.4 million last year.

Seattle Seahawks
•The Seattle Seahawks have continued to address depth concerns at linebacker by signing veteran Michael Wilhoite to a one-year deal.Wilhoite has spent all five of his NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, becoming a starter for parts of the past three seasons.Wilhoite, 30, played mostly as an inside linebacker in the 49ers’ defensive system. He started all 16 games in 2014, 12 games in 2015 and six games last season. Wilhoite had a career-high 87 tackles in 2014 and last season had 55 tackles despite playing mostly in a reserve role.
•The Seahawksadded depth in the secondary by signing defensive back Bradley McDougaldand added kicker John Lunsford. McDougald spent the past four seasons with Tampa Bay. He started 31 of 32 games played the past two seasons, primarily at free safety. Last season, McDougald started all 16 games, recording a career-high 91 tackles, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions. He’s also shifted at times to cornerback and played strong safety in the past, which made him an attractive option for Seattle’s secondary that was seeking versatile depth upgrades after being thinned by injury last season. Lunsford was waived by Tampa Bayand joins Blair Walsh in the competition to be Seattle’s kicker after Steven Hauschka signed with Buffalo in free agency.
•Seattleadded depth on the offensive line by signing former Houston guard Oday Aboushi. He spent his first two seasons with the New York Jets and the past two years with Houston. Aboushi made eight starts and appeared in 11 games during his time with the Texans. He started 10 games in his two seasons with the Jets.
•Eddie Lacy’s agent says the former Green Bay running back is joining the Seahawks.Lacy’s management group, Sports Trust Advisors, said on Twitter that the four-year veteran has agreed to terms with the Seahawks.Lacy was the offensive rookie of the year in 2013, when he rushed for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also ran for more than 1,100 yards in 2014, but has since been slowed by injuries and lost favor with Packers coach Mike McCarthy at times.Last season, Lacy played in only five games, sidelined by ankle problems.
•The Seattle Seahawks have signed former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel as they look to bolster their offensive line.It’s believed to be a one-year deal. Joeckel was supposed to anchor Jacksonville’s line when he was selected second overall in 2013. He started all 39 games in his four seasons with the Jaguars, mostly at left tackle. He moved to left guard last season but played in just four games because of knee surgery.
