The fourth week of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's fifth season has added a new aftermarket part for players to earn. Named the JAK Protean, this turns the RAAL LMG into a strange hybrid between a light machine gun and a marskman rifle, capable of sniping enemies from a distance with a simple change in fire mode.

Unlock the JAK Slash underbarrel grip by completing some of this week's challenges.
But as with all aftermarket parts, you'll need to unlock it first. Completing any five of this week's challenges—including challenges for Multiplayer, MWZ, and Warzone—will unlock this kit. Before we explain how to complete all of this week's challenges, let's first cover how the JAK Protean Kit works to see if unlocking it is worth the hassle.
Week 4 Challenge Reward
After completing any five of this week's challenges, you'll unlock the JAK Protean for the RAAL LMG, a weapon originally unlocked in MW2. This kit slightly lowers the damage of the RAAL's full-auto mode in exchange for a substantially stronger semi-auto mode, one that rivals most marksman rifles. While in semi-auto, this gun is a two-tap from the lower torso and up. From our testing, this extends well past 50 meters with no added attachments.
The JAK Protean Kit restricts your barrel and underbarrel options. It also comes with a free hybrid optic, although this can be changed to any optic you please.
You ideally want to use this kit in semi-auto, as the full-auto mode is worse than most LMGs and MW3 assault rifles. Since semi-auto is so accurate, you can comfortably build this kit around ADS speed and mobility, which turns the weapon into a two-tapping battle rifle. With the right attachments, you can lower the gun's ADS speed to a respectable 260ms, the same as most assault rifles.

Tips
- Any semi-auto weapons count for the third challenge. It doesn't have to be a weapon with multiple fire modes.
- Use a strong Reclaimer 18 build or Lockwood 680 for easy one-hit shotgun kills. If you're struggling to land kills, play Hardcore.
- Mounted kills require you to mount your weapon onto a hard surface. Any piece of cover works. You can find your mount keybind in the options menu.
- If you have a bipod equipped, you can mount anywhere on the ground while prone.
- Use the Kar98K or Longbow for the last challenge.

Tips
- Use the Kar98K for the marksman rifle challenge. It hits incredibly hard and is easy to use.
- You can use the Reclaimer 18 set to semi-auto fire for the third and fourth challenges. Be sure to Pack-A-Punch it first.
- Cryofreeze ammo can usually be found in Infested Strongholds and as a reward from Contracts.

Tips
- All loot cache challenges must be completed in Urzikstan.
- For recommended weapons, we suggest using the STG44, Static-HV, Reclaimer 18, or Kar98K.
